Mexican apparel, gifts & collectibles merchant Epicland integrates Findify on their unique Shopify store

Offering the largest collection of pop culture products in all of Mexico, Epicland is aptly named. 

The store, which is hosted on the Shopify ecommerce platform, sells items from the worlds of Disney, Marvel, Star Wars, DC, Harry Potter, Nintendo, Game of Thrones, Dragon Ball Z, and many more. 

These items range from stylish t-shirts, sweatshirts, hats and bags to gift items like keyrings, mugs, and collectible figurines. 

Featuring thousands of products on their online store, and growing, the team behind Epicland realized they needed a better way for shoppers to discover their assortment. 

Now, leading site search and personalization software provider Findify has been enlisted to help Epicland with this, utilizing the power of personalization to help customers find their preferred items quicker and easier. Both Findify’s Personalized Search and Smart Collections solutions are now live on the Epicland website.

How does Site Search and Personalization software work? ​

With Personalized Search, there are two aspects - search accuracy and personalization. 

Accuracy is about making the search as smart as possible so that it can return relevant results to the customer putting in the query. This includes an autocomplete, predicting what they will type as they’re typing, meaning fewer keystrokes for the user. 

Other aspects include Natural Language Processing - the search being able to tell the difference between products, like a t-shirt, a keyring, or a figurine, and attributes, like the colour red.

An effective search should also include spelling tolerance, ensuring customers get relevant results even if they make a typo, and a zero results workaround - ensuring relevant products come up even if the exact query searched for is not present.

Personalization, then, is all about the AI algorithm which analyzes the behaviour of the customer and learns, in real time, what their preferences are - search results are ranked in order of preference. So, if the algorithm learns the shopper has a preference for items from the Marvel universe, or has a preference for Harry Potter items, this is what they will see more of. 

Findify’s Smart Collections solution takes all the same aspects as Personalized Search and applies them to collection pages to ensure products appearing within collections are ranked according to the customer’s preference, and are not simply a one-size-fits-all static list of products. ​

Customizing the product experience

While Findify’s powerful ecommerce tool already looks great out-of-the-box, it is also possible to customize the solutions to match the merchant’s desired look, feel, and desired brand experience. 

Epicland, for example, chose to customize a number of aspects, most notably in relation to the store’s product cards where they requested an integration of both ‘Añadir al Carrito’ (‘Add to Cart’) and ‘Vista Rápida’ (‘Quick View’) functions. 

Since Findify powers areas that display products across the site, the company very specifically decided to build a solution that is flexible and can be fully adapted to the client’s brand experience - offering endless opportunities through customizations and pre-built integrations.

In addition, Findify created a custom sticker for the merchant - highlighting discounted items with ‘Ahorra x%’ (‘Save x%’).

Unique cardmaker Lovepop is latest US Shopify store to enable Findify personalized search

Founders of Lovepop, an innovative 3D card company, John Wise and Wombi Rose met when studying to become naval architects. 

On a group trip to Vietnam, however, John and Wombi were inspired by the incredible paper art form of kirigami. 

The duo decided to take their engineering background and combine this ancient art with the sliceform structure used in ship design. This created a new method of creation which they called Slicegami - and thus Lovepop was born.

Combining two thoughtful gifts into one, Edible Blooms is known all across Australia, New Zealand, and the UK for it’s unique chocolate bouquets. 

Founded in Australia in 2005 by two creative sisters, the company quickly blossomed into a global gifting company - now offering plant gifts, locally sourced hampers, and freshly cut flowers in addition to its signature chocolate bouquets. 

Each piece is lovingly crafted, to order, by hand. 

While the success of Edible Blooms was welcomed by the two sisters, the siblings also felt a social responsibility - an onus to use their proceeds to give back to their community. 

This led to commitments to both sustainability, and to charitable endeavors. 

“In 2016 we set a three year goal to make all our packaging 100% reusable or recyclable. We’ve searched high and low for alternative options that still give our products that big smile on arrival,” they said. 

To date, Edible Blooms’ holders are 100% reusable, and are also produced using biodegradable additives, they use environmentally friendly ink, they carbon offset their printing materials, their bouquet stems are made from 100% recycled paper, and they have said a big ‘NO’ to floral foam. 

In terms of their charitable activities, Edible Blooms has gifted the equivalent of more than a quarter of a million Australian dollars to charities and non-profit organisations. It has also created a new community initiative called Smile Bandits, to recognize and reward individuals making a difference in their community.
